Jerry Busher and James Canty formed French Toast in 2001. Friends for more than 20 years, they had performed in a number of DC bands, including NOU, Make Up, Fidelity Jones, and All Scars. In 2005, they released "In a Cave" through Dischord. Later that year, the band added multi-instrumentalist Ben Gilligan. French Toast completed one more record, "Ingleside Terrace", before parting ways in 2006.
